Going downtown Tempe to Tempe Beach, Tempe library.  Riding my bike to Southern and Mill.  That was like way out of town.
Swimming in the canals.  Catching crawdads.   Mosquitoes!  Stockyards on Broadway.
Going to ASU library and reading the old books in the basement.  (before the Hayden Library)
Listening to KRIZ and KRUX.   Going to the Dave Clark Five concert at the coliseum.
Going to the Pioneer Drive-in on Apache (Main) in Mesa.
Swamp coolers.  It was better than nothing, but in August who could tell the difference.
Dog & Suds.  Tempe Center.  Bayless.  The big red barn on Apache and Terrace.
The first Taco Bell in Tempe on Apache. Tacos 10 for a dollar.  They tasted better than today's tacos.

Everytime I went to the Pioneer Theater I would look behind me and my older brother's (Tempe High) big old black car would be parked behind the car I was in. I would never say anything to my date. It was just too embarrassing. Looking back, I was very lucky to be loved that much by my brother. I have heard that girls he was dating were not all that impressed.

I would cut the grass, front & back yard with a push mower and get paid $1.25.
Ride our bikes to the Valley Art Theater, admission was only 35 cents, soda 5 cents. Pete's fish n' chips was 35 cents for a cheese burger.
